EDUC 558 - Independence Skills for Students with Multiple Disabilities Focuses on designing specially designed instruction to enable students with moderate to intensive disabilities to develop self-care, functional communication, self-help, and independent knowledge and skills with as much self-determination as possible. Emphases include empowering individuals with moderate to intensive disabilities to become self- advocates and to transition to adult living. Identifying relevant post- secondary community agencies and support systems and the skills needed to access these services for individuals with moderate to intensive disabilities is stressed. Field experience required.
