EDUC 520 - Emergent through Adolescent Literacy This course focuses on the research, theories, and methods used for supporting language arts and literacy development across grades PK-12. Specific emphasis is placed on key scientifically based reading foundations that provide effective instruction and intervention strategies for emergent, beginning, and adolescent readers with diverse learning needs. Candidates explore research-based teaching strategies and curriculum that require a balance of literacy instruction formats. Additional emphasis is placed on strategies and techniques for strengthening writing skills of diverse learners and the integration of educational technology. 20 Field hours are required.
