MUSC 305 - Foundations of Western Art Music IV Credit Hours: 3
This course is the last in a series of four on the history, theory, and literature of music in the Euro-American classical tradition. It presents the fundamental building blocks of Western music in the twentieth century, including symmetrical scales, atonality, and serialism. By considering common structures, famous composers, and representative musical works, it examines the context, meaning, and impact of music in Western culture.
