ENGL 235 - African-American Literature

Credit Hours: 3

This course focuses on the ways in which the African American community has expressed itself through a multitude of literary forms-fiction, essays, memoire, poetry, drama, autobiography, and so forth-across the centuries. Furthermore, the course examines how these works fit within their historical and political contexts as forms of self-expression, artistic exploration, and social intervention.
