SOCI 230 - Disability Across Time and Societies

Credit Hours: 3

The course provides a general introduction to disability both past and present by using a social science framework. Students will analyze the actions, ideas, and portrayals by cultural authorities and the disabled themselves in the past and present. By using a life course perspective on disability, students will analyze how personal, historical, political, economic, and societal perspectives impact individuals with disabilities today and how they can be just one more face of diversity.
