SOCI 235 - Gender Through the Life Course Credit Hours: 3
This course will examine how gender informs our relationships to each other and in society by exploring topics such as feminist theory and methods, political economy, language, science, tourism, media, violence, and human rights. We will focus on the dynamic and variable aspects of gender, sex, and sexuality within and across cultures, historical periods, and representational forms, while analyzing the circumstances in which they undergo challenges and transformations. Students will examine how race, sexuality, age, ethnicity, culture and nation status impacts our understandings of gender.
