MUSC 312 - Music and Politics

This course explores the relationship between music and politics. It uses Western art music, non-Western musics, and popular songs to examine the impact of music on political ideas throughout history and around the world. Topics include: political agendas advanced by music; musical responses to political events; and the use of music as propaganda.
