MUSC 215 - Aural Skills I

Credit Hours: 1

This course is the first of two that teach students to hear and reproduce melodies, rhythms, and harmonies in the Euro-American classical tradition. Students translate sound into notation and notation into sound, including staff notation, intervals, major and minor scales, key signatures, basic rhythms, and basic melodic sequences. This course also introduces ways of hearing and reproducing music outside of Western Art Music, particularly in oral/aural traditions from around the world.
