Sport and Fitness Science Major (MAP)

The Sport & Fitness major is designed for healthcare professionals with an associate of science degree who wish to obtain a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Sport and Fitness Science.

The Bachelor of Science and clinical experience will enable candidates to successfully apply/obtain advanced certifications such as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and Certified Special Population Specialist (CSPS). This combination of credentials will prepare candidates for positions such as High School Strength and Conditioning Coach, Strength and Fitness Professional, or Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the sport and fitness industry at the community, medical, athletic and/or corporate levels.

Professionals with a sport and fitness or exercise science background, and physical therapists assistants also often choose this major to continue on for a master’s in athletic training.

MAP majors are designed to accommodate the demands of your career and personal life. Most courses are offered multiple times per year within four 10-week terms. This allows you to:

  • Adjust your course load: take only 1 or up to 4 courses each term
  • Choose the pace at which you will complete your program: take courses in just one term each year,or in all 4
  • Customized dual majors and or/minors: Your Health-Related Program Advisor will help you create a curriculum plan to meet your career goals
