ENGL 352 - Monsters and Monstrosity


Credit Hours: 3

Monsters and Monstrosity explores “traditional” monster topics such as vampires, zombies, lycanthropes and xenomorphs, specific works (i.e., Beowulf, Carrie, Interview with the Vampire, Jurassic Park, American Psycho), genres (i.e., horror, kaiju,), tropes (i.e., the “evil twin,” the monster hunter), or prominent writers of monster fiction. The course’s focus may include theoretical concepts of “monstrosity” and otherness or thematic approaches such as body horror, chimeras, mythical bestiaries, or representations of artificial intelligence.

Prerequisite: ENGL 121  
Repeatability: Course may be repeated for credit as topic changes
